The precision base plate allows oxygen to be fed to the fire from the bottom up which helps the fire burn very hot and for wood to be left as a fine ash. There are more vents at the top of the burn chamber to fuel the flame and make a hotter and cleaner burn. The fire ring which is made of single piece of 304 stainless steel. The fire ring keeps the fire even and centered.
